We decided to take a late fall walk at the second Acres Nature Preserve to be set aside in Noble county. It was a pretty, albeit chilly and windy, afternoon. Much of the preserve sits on lowland swamp forest land and periodic boardwalks help keep you out of the mud.
There were still plenty of leaves on the trees and yellow seemed to be the dominant color.
There were occasional open areas and splashes of brighter colors dotting the trails.
It was a mostly level, double loop trail and we ended up doing a little backtracking to hike it all. We did a little over 2 miles which was perfect for the young pup to start working on her trail legs.
